Lynn Taylor Interiors is a Southern California based interior design studio creating warm, inviting interiors that support the way people live, gather, and move through a space.

I’m Lynn Taylor McIlvain, the founder and designer behind the studio. I was born and raised on the border of Malibu and Pacific Palisades, where the mountains meet the ocean. Growing up in this environment shaped how I think about space, materiality, and flow, guided by indoor-outdoor living and a calm, balanced approach to design.

I began my career at an architecture studio focused on restaurant design, where I learned how functionality and engaging design work together to create spaces that are memorable and meant to be experienced. That foundation led me into high-end residential design, where I have spent the past five years managing large-scale new builds, full renovations, and furnishing projects. While I studied interior design through UCLA Extension, much of my education has come from years of hands-on experience in the field and collaboration with talented professionals.

I am closely involved throughout the design process, working alongside architects, builders, fabricators, and vendors from concept through completion. I bring extensive experience across space planning, material and finish selection, custom millwork and cabinetry design, and custom furniture and lighting design. I am deeply knowledgeable in sourcing furniture, textiles, antiques, decorative lighting, artwork and accessories, and maintain strong relationships with both local and international vendors and artisans. 

My design approach centers on the belief that spaces should reflect the people who call them home and the stories they hold. I value timeless design over trends, often blending antiques and traditional influences with more modern elements to create environments that are thoughtful, layered, and lived-in. Each project is approached as a collaboration, honoring the past while making space for a more intentional, beautiful way of living.
